Unlike many other lobsters, the Ornate Rock Lobster does not have large front claws. Long spines cover much of its body and it has large, irregular dark splotches of blue-brown on its legs and long front antennae. Also called Tropical Rock Lobster, it is found throughout the Indo-Pacific.
Roger Swainston is an illustrator extraordinaire and a zoologist as well.
Roger’s illustrations are the result of careful observation, backed by a scientists understanding of form and function, plus decades of painting experience. Over the past 25 years Roger has created over 6000 illustrations, principally of fish and other marine life of the Indo-Pacific region, for guide books, identification books and museums and scientific institutions around the world.
