Octopus hiding in Coconut shell

Octopi possess a large brain and are known for their high intelligence, cognitive ability and complex nervous system. Their eight arms are equipped with powerful neurons, which enable each arm to independently taste, touch and perform motion without direct input from the brain. The octopus has short and long-term memory, can recognise individual people, and likes to explore and play with objects. Their intelligence and elasticity inspires creativity, with many octopi fashioning tools and crafting unique lairs, including coconut shells. Because its body doesn’t contain bones, the octopus can squeeze into any space larger than its eyeball, and fold itself down into the smallest of sizes. In captivity they’ve been recorded opening glass jars, escaping aquaria, and squirting jets of water to disable electric lights.

Above: The octopus is the closest you’ll get to encountering an intelligent alien. It has a large brain and a body packed with millions of neurons, enabling it to taste, feel and make tools. It’s actually as sensitive as your pet dog, and has a good memory too; if it’s seen you once it will remember you next time!
